SW (December 2009): "Possibly the definitive one-track album [Thick As A Brick], this was my main reference point for creating the new Porcupine Tree set, The Incident, with its 55-minute song cycle. The flow of memorable riffs and melodies is flawless, and the interplay in what seems to be a live performance in the studio is a pinnacle of progressive rock. A 5.1 mix could certainly make the labyrinth of ideas even more adventurous."

SW (March 2011): "I'm now working on new stereo and 5.1 mixes of another very famous 70's progressive album for a deluxe reissue this year, can't say more about that just yet."

IA has told the new Record Collector that as soon as JT get a new web-server they will investigate streaming live shows online. So that's another option. On the other hand, IA also told RC that he's spending most of April arranging the new album in Bristol and Germany, but the release will most likely be in early 2012. Hm.

Gimme a break, not that NeoProg douchebag again -- That slimy Marillion /PTree thing makes me wanna vomit. What he did to Bruford's percussion on recent King Crimson re-issues is even worse than what his hairdo would've suggested, IMHO -- Downright pathetic , to say the least.

Zum Glück der Douchebag Steven Wilson, wenn einer Tull einen guten Sound verpassen kann, dann er. Ohnehin gehört seine Musik zu meinen Favoriten. Für mich wäre es also ein Traum

Ich finde es schon ziemlich bezeichnend, dass nur die vage Andeutung von Neuem hier mal eben einen Thread in kürzester Zeit füllt. Stagnation ist auch für eine Band wie unsere Lieblingscombo einfach nur Gift. Aber in solchen Fragen hat der Meister in den letzten Jahren ja gerne mal haarscharf daneben gelegen. Auch die Einschätzung seiner Fangemeinde ist schon lange nicht mehr richtig, die ja wahrscheinlich nur nur ein dickes Doppelalbum erwarten, welches zur einen Hälfte aus knackigem Rock ala Aqualung und zur anderen aus TAAB 2 bestehen soll.
Musiker sollen sich ruhig mal Zeit lassen, aber sie sollen sich selbst auch mal Zeit geben. Man muss nicht 10 Jahre und mehr ständig touren und dabei manche Länder schlicht überspielen. Der Zuhörer bekommt das Gefühl, immer das gleiche Konzert zu sehen, obwohl das ja gar nicht stimmt. Aber was mich betrifft, will ich auch musikalische Entwicklung sehen in Form neuer Kompositionen. Mir ist dabei auch egal, ob man sich nun für Neues mehr Zeit gönnt, aber nicht bis zum St. Nimmerleinstag. Sollte es tatsächlich nächstes Jahr ein JT-Album sein, hätte er sich 13 Jahre Zeit gelassen. Trotzdem wird es mir die Freudentränen ins Gesicht treiben, das weiß ich jetzt schon. Vielleicht löst es auch mal wieder die Lust auf ein Konzert von JT aus, wer weiß. In letzter Zeit habe ich mir vor allen Dingen andere Interpreten gegönnt, mein letztes war im Dezember Avantasia, welches schweinegeil war.

Aber man sieht, nur die vage Andeutung elektrisiert. Ian sollte die Geduld nicht überspannen ....

Inzwischen ist die Ankündigung von Days til a big surprise einer sekundengenauen Countdownuhr gewichen. So erzeugt man Spannung und wenn man ehrlich ist, dann steigt auch eine gewisse Erwartungshaltung.

Ich tippe auf den Beginn von Studioaufnahmen mit echter Veröffentlichungsankündigung. Das wäre nach dem verlauf der letzten Jahre nun wirklich eine Überraschung. WC weiß ja wie immer mehr und hat entsprechende Andeutungen gemacht.

Trotzdem, mal sehen, was es wird ...

Da er danach nur noch Solo-Termine hat (und somit keine Zeit für Studio), wird er wohl seinen Ausstieg aus der Band verkünden und nur noch sein Ding machen.

A big surprise ist doch etwas Positives. Es kann m.E. nur eine Reunion gepaart mit Liveauftritten sein. Ich tippe: Die Besetzung von 1971 führt Aqualung in Gänze irgendwo in England auf. Clive kanne es ja noch. Nür über John Evans muss man sich Gedanken machen. Vielleicht kann Tante Palmer den Job machen?

Thank you again, Mr. Snafje, this is the kind of information I’m dying for... Is it SW talking again? -- (Edit: OK, it's IA) I’m sure he’d pretty much butcher up ‘TAAB’ with his ‘Why don’t make it sound as fat as a Mars Volta record?” approach, but as for Aqualung, this perhaps could be well worth pondering upon, ‘cause I must admit I frequently find my ugly self wishing for some raucous ‘loudness war’ treatment to the album, too, each time I hear CB’s tinny drum rattles that rarely get a chance to rise up much above tape-hiss level 'n stuff...
