A little light music

Auf Youtube finden sich mittlerweile recht viele Aufzeichnungen kompletter Konzerte (da ist in den letzten Monaten verblüffend viel dazugekommen). Manche in einer Qualität, die einem die Lust am Anschauen verdirbt. Aber diese hier aus Mannheim ist streckenweise ein wahrer Genuss. Ein Genuss sind auch die ausführlichen Ansagen (etwa vor "Said she was a dancer"), von denen auf der CD ja nur ein kleiner Rest geblieben ist.

Bei der Gelegenheit möchte ich auf dieses Video von 2011 hinweisen, das besetzungsmäßig ebenfalls "light" ist

Man kann darin nicht nur einen der "verlorenen Songs" wiederhören ("Hare in the winecup" - das wäre mal ein Thema für sich, was daraus wird) und eine schöne Version von "wond'ring again", vor allem aber eine bemerkenswerte Vorabaufführung von "adrift and dumbfounded" und noch sonst manch Nettes. Der Auftritt der Gastmusikerin mag vielleicht eher als Beleg für IAs Toleranz angesehen werden

Das gibts in hervorragendem audio auch auf der 2-CD "When minstrels came to play" die ich schon immer der offiziellen vorgezogen habe, vielleicht, weil ich selbst dort war.

Muss gestehen, dass der offizielle "Light Music"-Release bis heute einer meiner Tull-Favourites war und eigentlich immer noch ist.... ...liegt vielleicht auch daran, dass die persönliche Begeisterung an der Sache (als solches) 1992 schon so eine Art "Höhepunkt" erreicht hatte (was man aber erst im Nachhinein festgestellt hat^^).

Klar, es war kein kompletter Gig und ja, es fehlen größtenteils die Ansagen (wie so oft bei offiziellen Veröffentlichungen; gibt auch gute Gründe dafür), aber vom Sound her fand ich die CD immer genialst, da Stimme+Flöte selten so "frontal" aus den heimischen Boxen kamen wie auf dieser Aufnahme.... .... was nicht zwangläufig gut und/oder "natürlich" heissen soll sondern nur, dass mir dieser Mix immer SEHR gut gefallen hat....

Toll, dass es dieses Konzert auch als Video gibt!
Ich war damals im Konzert in der Münchner Prinzregentenhalle und da hatte Ian noch ganz andere Sprüche drauf. Er hat vor "Roll yer own" den guten Dave Pegg sowas von durch den Kakao gezogen. Und es kamen auch Sachen wie (mit Adlerblick ins Publikum) - sinngemäß: "If I look very hard, I see some old people. And if I look very very hard, I see some people, who are even older than us. (...) Or perhaps there might be some gay people? Oh no, not here, because in Bavaria no-one is gay." oder vor "Under Wraps" - jetzt frei ins Deutsche übersetzt: "Dieses Lied stammt aus einer Zeit, in der wir mit elektronischen Instrumenten experimentiert haben. Nicht, dass ihr mich falsch versteht, es ist nichts schlimmes an elektronischen Insturmenten - zumindest nicht, solange sie von kleinen Kindern gespielt werden." etc.
Ich habe noch ein Tape vom Konzert - muss ich mir mal wieder anhören.

So, jetzt habe ich mal in das Tape vom Münchnener Konzert hinein gehört und Ians Ansagen "transkribiert". Zur allgemeinen Erbauung - here they are:

IA: "He's talking about female masturbation! It's alright for you girls! You just have to remember to change the batteries. – It's a song about ... what he said. And Martin Barre will play the Blues with an – erection. "

IA: "That was Look into the sun. (Spricht etwas zu Dave Pegg) ..."
DP: "I did it once and all my hair fell out."
IA: "Oh, that's very very very sad. (....) etc.
IA: "This is one of the 2 songs, dedicated to Jesus ... Anyone, who have seen God recently? – David Pegg sees God on a fairly regular basis. God is – well – (unverständlich) ... God has a shit job! It's a real shit job being God! I know that, because we're pretty old! And sex becomes very very difficult, when you get old. You can do it maybe once on a good day and then no more. And I know that God is even older than us. So God can't do it probably at all!
