JETHRO TULL CONCERT IN CITY TODAY

BANGALORE: Ian Anderson, lead vocalist and flautist of Jethro Tull, will perform at Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) cultural fest Unmaad at 7 p.m. on Friday. The vocalist told presspersons here on Thursday that the band will be without Martin Barre (guitar) and Doane Perry (drum).

On his tryst with India, Anderson said in the late 1960s he used to jam with Richie Dharma, a drummer of Indian origin. Today, Indian influence in Britain extends far beyond music. "Now, I get about 20 Indian channels to watch at home. It is not just Indian news channels even old Hindi black and white movies."

Known for his satirical lyrics, Anderson described Tull's music as not for mainstream rock audience and admitted to being surprised that they sold 50 million over the years. On his part, he first likes to please himself as a musician. Tickets to the concert, priced at Rs. 600 and Rs. 1,200, are available at the venue.

Search google to see that these indian shows were handbilled by JETHRO TULL, not Ian Anderson solo, or even "Jethro Tull / Ian Anderson" as the official website says. Every true Tull fan should understand what Herbert meant.

well, the hard reality is sometimes not what it seems, is it?

Let's face it....these concerts were planned a few months ago, were'nt they? And Ian (resp. the promoter) thought that it would be Jethro Tull!
In the meantime MB, DP and AG decided not to go - which is a pity without doubt - but it THEIR decision. At the same time the indian promoter has started the ticket sales for Jethro Tull - so who's to blame!

Let's stick to the facts, the 2006 Jethro Tull line up is IA, MB, JN, DP and AG. And there is as much historic significance in these indian gigs as there was in these 1993/1994 gigs when Matt Pegg was steppin' in for his father and Dave Mattacks and this other chap who really could not cope with the drum parts.....(...I sucessfully tried to forget his name.... )

The not so...errrrr.....let's say... suitable billing of these indian dates is just due to commercial reasons.........the historic significance is just for the records and will be forgotten in March.

So, calm down all, it's alright and we've had it all before.

BTW: It's not the first Tull show without Martin......they've played plenty of them in 1968 - 1969.. ...
