I'm pretty sure that such things are pre-recorded. If it's an hour and has music, it should be not much more than 10-15 minutes to talk, which one can easily record at avery hotel lobby in the world

Every week, Ian Anderson talks about his influences - from the music he loves to the people he's met.

Coming up on his first show, the Jethro Tull star takes us through some of his biggest influences - Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, and Frank Zappa. Alongside these rock revolutionaries, there are tracks from some of the great blues men, Muddy Waters and Sonny Boy Williamson, who made their mark on the young Mr Anderson.

By the way, also Tony Iommi and Rick Wakemen have their own show.

I guess you are right, but he has two hours every week so it's a bit more than 10 minutes, although their will be many music indeed.

Snafje, it it's a 2 hours program, it make take one hour to record it, so he could tape up to 10 shows or so on a day off

well ... I forgot! Tuned in about 30 minutes into the show. Ian is telling stories and being the DJ. Quite interesting, he just talked about FZ and played "Jewish Princess" and now "Elvis Has Just Left The Building". Before that there was Captain Beefheart.

Anyone taped the first part ... please let me know.

well, ok ... missed about more, as the show obviously started at 6:00 (which is 7:00 here) and I tuned in at about 8:30 ....

Next week will have folk music Ian said at the end. Surely some Fairport tunes.

Alright, here it is:

I edited the stuff I captured (the last 30 minutes of the show) from part one to an mp3 file (just Ian talking, not the music). It's quite interesting and -as expected- Ian does a superb job with telling stories. Anyway, it's also a good example how sometimes Ian tells stories that can't be exactly true. In this case, he tells the story when he heard aboud Zappa's dead, being in the living room in Portland and crying, drinking half a bottle of wine before he went on stage.
The thing is that -IIRC- F.Z. died on 4.12.1993, his dead being announced two days later. JTs last 1993 concert was on 22.11.1993 (at least that's what the ministry says), so there probably was no JT concert on the day F.Z. died and the story can't be like Ian tells us!
Another thing is that when he mentioned meeting John Kay again on a german TV show, John didn't play with Steppenwolf, but with the german band "Bap". So Ian does what a lot of people do with himself: Ian Anderson=Jethro Tull -> John Kay=Steppenwolf .

To state it clear: I like the show (at least the part of it that I listened to) very much. Ian is a fantastic storyteller. He did such a thing back in 1998 on german TV with videos and I can surely listen to him telling these little stories for hours. So I hope that I don't forget to tune in next sunday 7:00 p.m.

Again, if anyone hears about someone who taped the complete show, please let me know and let's set up a trade.

Wenn ich ehrlich bin, weiss ich auch nicht mehr so hundertprozentig, wann ich 1993 wo genau war….sei ihm gegönnt. Interessant die Auswahl: ”Elvis Has Left the Building“ und ”Jewish Princess“; sollte da doch noch was vom alten Humorpotential in ihm schlummern?
