diese Meldung ist doch ein neues Thema wert, auch wenn sie im Zusammenhang mit der Veröffentlichung von Homo erraticus steht. Und auch, wenn das im Ergebnis natürlich schon lange klar war.

So schreibt der Gurdian (er sei stellvertretend für mehrere Zeitungen genannt):
"Ian Anderson has called an end to Jethro Tull, announcing that from here on out he will record and tour exclusively under his own name. After half a century and almost two dozen albums, Anderson said he is ready for Jethro Tull to live on as "the vast body of [its] repertoire"

Ja, das ist durchaus ein "Thema" wert.... auch, wenn ich befürchte, dass da am Ende nichts wirklich Erhellendes bei rauskommt....

Aber es ist schon "interessant", wenn er dieser Tage in mehreren Quellen sagt, der Name "Jethro Tull" wäre ja schon immer panne gewesen als Bandname und das hätte er auch vor 20 Jahren schon so gesagt.... ... ich kann mich an einiges erinnern aus der Zeit, aber DARAN nun nicht wirklich. Ich vermute mal, das hat er Martin 17 Jahre lang ins Ohr geflüstert, bis der es ihm dann irgendwann geglaubt hat.....

Insofern ist mir das alles nicht so recht schlüssig, nach wie vor nicht und trotz diversester "Begründungen" seitens IA. Ich versteh's nicht. Es vermittelt bestenfalls das Gefühl bei mir, dass Anderson sich selber mit seinen ewigen Best-Of-Touren "zu Tode gelangweilt hat" und dieser kreative Neuanfang (so muss man es ja fast bezeichnen) nun halt unter seinem eigenen Namen stattfindet. Wenn ihm das in seiner neuen Schaffensphase "behilflich" ist, meinetwegen, wen interessiert schon, was auf der Verpackung steht. Nur "logisch" ist das alles nicht, wenn nach jahr(zehnt)e langer "Sendepause" plötzlich wieder neue "Tull Musik" produziert wird (nichts anderes ist HE; TABB2 war's imo nur eingeschränkt), diese dann aber nicht mehr unter dem Namen der Gruppe veröffentlicht wird....

Also entweder hat Martin doch "Namensrechte", die es weder ihm noch Anderson ermöglichen, den Bandnamen alleine uneingeschränkt zu verwenden (hab' ich ja schön öfters hier vermutet^^).... oder IA "plant" jetzt schon die große "Re-Union" am Tage X.... wobei ihm das noch weniger ähnlich sieht, zumal es ja auch keine "Abschiedstournee" gab sondern sich diese Geschichte einfach so entwickelt hat, wie sie sich jetzt darstellt.

Ist in meinen Augen alles etwas "kurios". Anderson hat jahrzehntelang deutlich gemacht, dass die "materielle Seite" der Geschichte nicht völlig irrelevant für ihn ist und dass er lieber lukrative Dörfer-Tourneen rund um den Globus veranstaltet anstatt mal wieder was Vernünftiges zu veröffentlichen, was ihm dann aber kein Geld mehr bringt. Das macht er nun, verzichtet dabei aber auf die Verwendung des Bandnamens? Und das alles aus den von ihm genannten Gründen?

Wer's glaubt, wird seelig.... und wer backt, wird mehlig....

Also wenn ich mal die nun annähernd 40 Jahre meines geneigten Fan-Daseins Revue passieren lasse dann hat Anderson ja schon reichlich zum Besten gegeben. Und sich in vielem widersprochen, manches in Abrede gestellt und bei einigem so getan als hätte er es nie gesagt. Mir alles reichlich egal gewesen.
Ganz ernst habe ich ihn bei alledem ohnehin nie genommen, für mich war die Musik immer das Ausschlag gebende.
Und hier kann ich mich immer wieder erfreuen das TULL /Anderson mich nun schon fast mein ganzes Leben musikalisch begleiten und sogar wieder kreatives erarbeiten.
Wer kann das schon von sich behaupten? Da bleibt nicht viel.

Und ob das alles nun Ian Anderson oder Jethro Tull benannt wird.....Anderson wird immer TULL bleiben, oder nicht? Auch wenn er, wenn ich meine mich recht zu erinnern, neulich irgendwo etwas anderes von sich gegeben hat.

Jethro Tull mainstay Ian Anderson is making the publicity rounds on behalf of his new solo record ‘Homo Erraticus,’ and it sounds like this could be more than just a pit stop between Tull projects.
As fans who’ve purchased the deluxe edition of the ‘Erraticus’ record know, Anderson’s in a solo state of mind these days; in the liner notes for that version of the record, he wrote: “I think I prefer, in my twilight years, to use my own name for the most part being composer of virtually all Tull songs and music since 1968.” And although classic rock band names are un-retired about as often as they’re put to rest, Anderson recently told Billboard that he doesn’t anticipate changing his mind about the end of Jethro Tull.
“I think that, if we look back on it, it kind of came more or less to an end during the last 10 years or so,” mused Anderson, summing up the band’s last few releases as “a couple of live albums and a studio album of Christmas material.” Although he stopped short of vowing never to resurrect the band, he added: “That might define the last albums under the name Jethro Tull. It’s a body of work I rather think is now kind of historical, since the weight of it lies back in the ’70s and ’80s, in terms of volume. And I rather think it’s nice to kind of leave that as legacy.”
Furthermore, as he pointed out during a conversation with Classic Rock Magazine, Tull’s impressive longevity makes it difficult to assemble a compelling modern-day version of the group. “A Jethro Tull concert isn’t impossible in the future,” he admitted. “But who’s going to be in the band? A lot of them don’t play, aren’t feeling terribly well or are dead. Or, in terms of musical ability, wouldn’t hack it. There are some who it’d be fun to have in the band, but only for a day or two. Then it would be frustrating for both of us.”
It probably doesn’t hurt that Anderson’s feeling pretty good about ‘Homo Erraticus.’ “I appreciate that I am not a likeable guy,” he said, chuckling. Comparing his own recent output to that of his peers, Anderson shrugged: “There are of course many great rock musicians, but a lot of them are boring, repetitive, mindless and imitative. Nine-tenths of the iceberg is pretty sordid stuff, really.”
